AF FIREGUARD 3

AF FIREGUARD 3 is made of a rock wool mat quilted on a metal mesh and covered with a wired aluminium foil on the outer side and a glass fabric coated with a special paint on the inner side.

AF FIREGUARD 3 is a product designed and developed for metal ventilation duct fire protection (external fires). Pipe protection with AF FIREGUARD 3 mat, applied in a single layer, provides EI 120/EI 180 fire resistance class according to UNI EN 1366-1.

APPLICATION METHOD

  1. RECTANGULAR SECTION: measure the duct perimeter and increase by 120 mm (30 mm for each side) to compensate for the mat thickness + 200 mm overlap of the two sections. (Total: duct perimeter + 320 mm);
  2. CIRCULAR SECTION: measure the duct circumference and increase by 190 mm to compensate for the mat thickness + 200 mm overlap of the two sections (Total: duct circumference + 390 mm);
  3. cut the AF FIREGUARD 3 mat based on the length calculation;
  4. Wrap the cut section around the duct overlapping the longitudinal joint by about 200 mm;
  5. secure the mat with a steel wire of 1 mm for each 300 mm (three loops per metre);
  6. repeat all the steps mentioned previously to cover the whole duct with a second parallel layer;
  7. apply the special self-adhesive AF BAND 3 to the transversal joint between the two mats;
  8. secure AF BAND 3 by placing a 1 mm steel wire around the duct.

 

ALL THE STEPS MUST BE REPEATED UNTIL THE ENTIRE DUCT IS COVERED

SPECIFICATIONS

Supply and application of AF FIREGUARD 3 fireproof mat for metal ducts, consisting of a mineral fibre mat of 30 mm thickness and density of 100 kg/m3 with externa3l coating in aluminium and steel mesh, treated with the ablative AF SEAL WB protection product, for the EI 120 protection of metal ventilation ducts. The transverse joints must be covered with AF BAND 3 aluminised adhesive tape.

Self-adhesive strip in aluminised non- combustible fabric designed for the protection of the AF FIREGUARD 3 non-overlapping joints. AF BAND 3 is easy and fast to install, and does not require special equipment. It is applied to the joint using its self-adhesive features and secured with steel wire (thickness 1 mm).

Available in 25 m rolls.
